Eowyn and the Nazgul by Sassar Eowyn and the Nazgul by Sassar
Ok so I did this for a competition over at ArtOrder. You were supposed to do an interpretation of the scene where Eowyn faces the Nazgul in the Return of the King. As you might expect, it's quite difficult not to be influenced by Peter Jackson's interpretation in the films, I tried not to but there still is some resemblance. All in all I'm somewhat happy with the result, there are parts that I like and parts that I don't like, however I'm happy with the amount of effort I put into it and all that it taught me along the way.

Thanks for having a look, please leave a comment if you feel like it, means a lot to me :)

I think Fell Beasts were intended, by Tolkien, to resemble pterosaurs.

oh man this looks awesome! I'm a big lotr fan so to see this artwork coming from you is really cool :D I love the mood of the color scale in this pic, it works excellent in this scene and the way you've captured the fell beast is absolutly spot on, I agree with noleme it actually looks scarier than it does in the movie which of course is a big compliment ;)

yeah I do recall that you mentioned liking the Lord of the Rings artwork by John Howe. I like his art as well and it has served as a source of inspiration for me when I set about to create this piece. I'm glad you like it! :)
